Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) is recruiting for a 12‑month fixed‑term vacancy within the Mersey Ferries fleet. This role focuses on marine electrical engineering – specifically High‑Voltage (HV) competence
.

• Maintaining safe, reliable vessel systems
• Applying electrical and HV expertise in a regulated marine environment
• Supporting the introduction of modern technologies and systems
• Working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and surveyors

• Time‑served Marine Engineer (Level 3 minimum)
• A formal, recognised qualification in Marine Electrical Engineering (or closely related discipline)
• High‑Voltage (HV) training

• Strong understanding of electrical safety, isolation and compliance

• A methodical, safety‑focused approach
• Confidence to ask questions and challenge safely
• Clear communication and teamwork
• Willingness to learn and share knowledge

• Time‑served Marine Engineer (minimum Level 3), with a formal, recognised qualification in Marine Electrical Engineering (or closely related discipline)
• Evidence of competence in marine electrical systems, including diagnostics and fault‑finding, supported by formal High‑Voltage (HV) training
• Strong understanding of health, safety and compliance within a safety‑critical engineering environment

• £33,470 – £35,369 per year
