The Opportunity
An outside IR35 contract opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support a major project portfolio based in the Liverpool area. This role offers technically challenging work, genuine autonomy, and the chance to contribute to multidisciplinary engineering delivery on industrial-scale assets.

- Senior Mechanical Engineer, Lead Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Principal Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Project Engineer, Mechanical Package Engineer, Rotating Equipment Engineer, Mechanical Consultant
- Taking full technical ownership of mechanical engineering deliverables, ensuring outputs meet agreed standards, legislation, and quality expectations.
- Providing day‑to‑day technical leadership and guidance to less experienced mechanical engineers within the project team.
- Producing robust mechanical design packages, including contractor scopes and installation documentation.
- Reviewing, checking, and approving mechanical drawings, calculations, and supplier documentation.
- Developing equipment specifications, data sheets, and enquiry packs for mechanical plant and packages.
- Supporting bid and tender activities through input to schedules, cost estimates, and resource planning.
- Working closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure coordinated and buildable designs.
- Contributing to technical reviews, risk workshops, constructability reviews, and regulated design forums.
- Attending project meetings, supplier discussions, and site visits as required.
- Providing engineering support during construction and commissioning activities where needed.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with chartered status or a clear route towards it.
- Strong experience delivering mechanical design within an engineering, EPC, or consultancy environment.
- Proven background in specifying mechanical equipment, materials, pipework, valves, and fabrication methods.
- Working knowledge of UK and international engineering standards and regulatory frameworks relevant to mechanical systems.
- The ability to communicate clearly with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders across all project stages.
