Overview Of

The Role

Mott Mac Donald is a global leader advising clients in the planning, design, and construction of coastal and offshore infrastructure. Projects range from coastal erosion business cases and feasibility studies to structural defences, environmental enhancements, and construction supervision. We work worldwide and in the UK, striving for sustainable solutions.

As a Principal Coastal Engineer in the Ports, Coastal and Offshore (PCO) team, you will influence project success by contributing to outcomes that exceed client expectations. Responsibilities include coastal process and hydrodynamic investigations, design documentation, and input to contract procurement. Sectors include UK and international coastal zone management, offshore renewables, cables, and tidal power.

Described responsibilities may include project management tasks such as resourcing, programming, contract matters, risk and quality oversight, tender document preparation, specifications, BOQs and construction drawings, and managing tender processes through contract award. You will support new business development and tender submissions for the PCO account.

Candidate specification

Essential

  • A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related technical equivalent
  • Experience in Coastal Engineering within a consultancy environment
  • Strong written communication skills; capable of writing reports and delivering presentations
  • Experience delivering coastal engineering projects using innovative and digitally driven techniques
  • Experience in business development, including client liaison and bid preparation
  • Chartered with a relevant professional institution such as ICE/ IStruct

    E/ CIWEM (or equivalent working experience)
  • Demonstrated project leadership

Desirable

  • Travel overseas for project assignments when required
  • Project management skills with ability to network and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders
