HSQE Advisor

Aureos are hiring for a HSQE Advisor to join our Highways team working on the Liverpool City framework. This is a permanent office/site-based role.

The role will involve the provision of competent health, safety, quality (assurance) and site environmental advice supporting the Liverpool City Project. It will include ensuring inspections and guidance for the site staff and management team, providing challenge where required, promoting safe equipment, standards and methods of working, and leading by example.

• Be a visible presence on site to identify unsafe working practices and conditions.
• Encourage quality contributions and ensure timely close‑out and feedback action, promote lessons learned and good practice sharing.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with site teams, clients and other stakeholders.
• Promote health and wellbeing support and direct staff where required.
• Prepare and deliver workforce engagement sessions (toolbox talks, awareness sessions).
• Lead on and support incident investigations.
• Proactively improve risk reduction through planning processes.
• Take an active role in developing, maintaining and promoting a positive HSQE culture.

• Assist operational team with review of CDM documentation.
• Ensure assurance of processes and working methods.
• Ensure compliance with Aureos standards and client requirements.
• Undertake reviews of risk assessment, method statements and task briefs.
• Provide support and advice to staff to promote sustainable practices.
• Ensure that all investigation findings and associated actions are closed within required timescales.
• Promote closure of NCRs and OFIs within the project.

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent construction certificate.
• Experience of civil engineering or construction works.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Driving licence.
• CSCS certificate.
• Environmental Certificate.
• Mental Health First Aider.

• Experience of construction, civil and/or highway projects.
• Industry knowledge across the infrastructure services area.
• Knowledge of HSQE management systems.
• Site inspection and risk assessment experience.
• Working knowledge of health and safety legislation.

• Excellent listening skills when required.
• Ability to work overtime when required.
• Ability to use IT systems including Microsoft 365 and HSQE specific systems.
• Excellent time management and relationship skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate clearly to inform and influence others.
