AboutOur Maritime Business
Our global Maritime team comprises over six hundred professionals and is at the forefront of innovative international maritime planning, design, and development. We are multidisciplinary experts working on international projects to create successful ports, shipyards, and maritime infrastructure worldwide. We have provided expert commercial, technical and operational advice and created master plans across the five continents for a wide range of port and shipyard projects.
We are one of the largest and most experienced teams of port planning, shipyard and dry dock professionals, and dock and lock gate designers globally. We are world leaders in the production of port and shipyard feasibility studies, master plans, and designs. From our Maritime offices across the UK, we lead all the company’s Shipyard projects collaborating with colleagues globally.
Examples of recent projects include the design of a lock for a new port in India with sliding caisson gates, the design of the newest, largest, and most technically advanced shipyard in the Middle East with three dry docks covering an area of over 1,000 hectares, an above and below water assessment of a set of dock gates in the North East of England, and providing continuous significant support to our various UK Naval Bases.
The RoleAs a Principal Engineer you will work on globally significant projects that involve dock/lock gates, floating pontoons, or other similar floating structures. The role offers exposure to local and global projects, working with leading professionals within the maritime and shipyard sector. You will use your technical and practical experience to develop engineering design solutions for maritime civil engineering structures and dock/lock gates in ports and shipyards, using steel, concrete, timber, and other materials to relevant design codes.
You will have engineering input in all project stages from inception, through design and construction, to demolition, recycling, and reuse. Your technical and commercial experience, and liaison with multidisciplinary teams will be vital to the success of the projects you work on. Some clients may require staff to meet specific government security clearances before accessing certain documents and projects; such checks will be paid for by the company.
Job Responsibilities- Prepare designs and analyses for maritime and associated structures for ports and shipyards, including the structural design of dock and lock gates.
