Senior Sustainability Consultant
Location: UK – Bristol, 3 Rivergate
Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our established Sustainability & Decarbonisation Advisory team, part of our Building Engineering Business Line.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering Sustainability & Carbon services for major public and private sector clients, helping them to design and deliver low‑carbon, resilient, and sustainable estates across sectors including healthcare, education, commercial, and especially UK Defence & National Security.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting clients to develop and understand their sustainability and decarbonisation requirements.
- Developing, delivering, and reviewing whole‑life carbon reduction strategies for a variety of scoping mechanisms (e.g., Greater London Authority, LETI & RIBA, RICS, BREEAM etc.).
- Liaising directly with clients and designers to develop sustainability and decarbonisation strategies at the outset, implementing these from early design through to construction.
- Delivery of assessment certification schemes such as BREEAM and DREAM. LEED and/or WELL experience is advantageous.
- Delivery of sustainability appraisals such as SAW and SEEAM.
- Supporting project management and programming.
- Supporting work winning through the bidding process including tender responses.
- Mentoring junior staff where suitable to help upskill.
- Good knowledge of the building design and construction process.
- Experience of undertaking WLCAs using One Click LCA, assessment certification schemes especially BREEAM and DREAM, and sustainability appraisals.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and apply it to practical sustainability solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information.
- High attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving.
- Successful applicants will need active UK SC clearance or the ability to gain UK SC clearance, and ideally a single UK nationality.
