We have a number of exciting on-going projects with clients across both commercial & naval marine domains and are seeking to expand our existing Naval Architecture capability.

As a Mechanical Engineer every day at Expleo will be out of the ordinary and will require you to be dynamic and responsive to changes in technology, innovation, and client requirements. You will have the oppertunity toapply engineering principals and deliver detailed design artifacts within the Maritime domain. Your focus will be within Ships Lifting and Handling Systems, including Launch and Recovery Systems.

This is an opportunity to be deployed with one of our existing clients on a full-time basis for 6+ months. As this role is a construction focused role, there is a requirement to be on-site full time and shall therefore require the successful candidate to be located, willing to re-locate or willing to travel to the North-West region of the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain system requirements, specifications, and functional descriptions.
  • Define system operating modes, load cases, and performance requirements. Coordinate interfaces between mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control system disciplines.
  • Review and verify engineering designs to ensure they meet functional and operational requirements.
  • Support system integration, testing, commissioning, and acceptance activities.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and support fault finding during testing and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, project specifications, and applicable industry standards.
  • Satisfy requirement sets through detailed design and development(CAD modelling, drawings, tolerance analysis, materials specification).
  • Produce 2D/3D CAD models and design documentation to support manufacture.
  • Demonstrate compliance through analysis, modelling, qualification and environmental testing, producing reports and certificates.
Qualifications
  • Degree / HNC / HND qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Marine Technology, Naval Engineering), or equivalent experience in the naval and commercial ship design, construction, or maintenance domain.
  • Professional member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET).
  • Recognised as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer by the UK Engineering Council (or an ability to achieve within 24 months)
Essential skills
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of Classification Society requirements.
  • Planning, execution and oversight of ship commissioning and acceptance activities.
  • Proven ability to manage technical issues within complex engineering programmes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate independently within a client environment.
  • Security Clearance (SC) or eligibility to obtain clearance.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and integrity.
  • Applies sound engineering judgement in complex situations.
  • Communicates effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Builds productive relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintains a strong focus on safety, quality and delivery.
  • Proactively identifies issues and drives timely resolution.
  • Works independently while contributing positively to the wider project team.
Experience
  • Significant experience in commercial or naval shipyards, supporting construction, conversion or major refit programmes
  • Royal Navy, Royal Fleet Auxiliary or Merchant Navy Platform experience
  • Experience in Ships Lifting and Handling Systems (Launch and Recovery Systems)
