The Opportunity

The RoleAs a Mechanical Engineer, you will support the delivery of mechanical building services elements across multidisciplinary projects, ensuring the successful production of high-quality designs and deliverables that meet client, programme and budget requirements. Working alongside experienced engineers and project teams, you will contribute to the delivery of projects across a range of sectors while continuing to develop your technical and professional expertise.
Key responsibilities include:- Support the delivery of mechanical and building services elements of multidisciplinary projects across a range of sectors including Rail, Transportation, Defence, Justice and Education.
- Prepare and develop designs, calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications and project documentation.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of projects, ensuring outputs meet quality, cost and programme requirements.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders as part of the project delivery process.
- Support the preparation of technical proposals and contribute to bid submissions where required.
- Apply engineering principles to a range of project challenges, developing practical and compliant design solutions.
- Coordinate design information with other disciplines to support integrated project delivery.
- Assist in identifying and managing project risks and opportunities.
- Support compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements throughout project delivery.
- Contribute to the development of junior team members and share knowledge across project teams where appropriate.
- Undertake site visits, surveys and inspections as required.
- Degree, HNC or HND in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Working towards, or holding, membership of CIBSE, IMechE or another relevant professional institution.
- Understanding of mechanical building services design including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and associated building systems.
- Experience delivering mechanical building services projects within multidisciplinary design environments.
- Good understanding of design and specification processes.
- Awareness of commercial considerations associated with project delivery.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Good understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and risk assessment processes.
- Experience using industry-standard design and CAD software including AutoCAD and Revit.
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
- Understanding of interface management and multidisciplinary project coordination.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Working towards Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
- Experience with in Rail, Transportation, Defence, Justice, Education or other public sector environments.
- Experience using mechanical calculation and modelling software such as Hevacomp, IES or TAS.
- Revit and BIM experience.
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary design projects.
- CSCS card.
- Experience supporting bid preparation and business development activities.
