Our leading manufacturing client is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician (days only) on a staff basis. The role will have a broad multi-disciplinary remit covering mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining plant reliability, diagnosing complex faults, delivering planned and reactive maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires a practical, hands-on engineer who can work confidently across multiple disciplines while recognising competency and authorisation boundaries.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned, preventative and corrective maintenance across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation assets.
* Diagnose and resolve complex plant faults using structured fault-finding and root cause analysis techniques.
* Respond effectively to breakdowns to restore plant safely and minimise production downtime.
* Identify long-term corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment failures.
* Prioritise maintenance activities based on operational risk, production requirements, equipment condition and statutory requirements.
* Develop and implement effective maintenance plans in coordination with production requirements.
* Support shutdowns, outages, contractor activities and engineering improvement projects.
* Maintain and repair pumps, valves, bearings, seals, gearboxes, pipework, hydraulics and pneumatics.
* Undertake electrical maintenance on motors, drives, starters, control panels and distribution systems where trained and authorised.
* Carry out instrumentation calibration, inspection, loop checking and fault diagnosis.
* Support PLCs, control systems, industrial networks and associated hardware/software fault finding.
* Escalate complex control system issues to specialist engineering support where required.
* Use predictive maintenance techniques including vibration monitoring, ultrasound and thermography.
* Analyse equipment performance, breakdown history and failure trends to improve maintenance strategies.
Skills & Experience
* Apprentice-trained or equivalent industry experience in either Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
* Experience of working in process manufacturing, food, pharmaceuticals, beverage, FMCG, chemicals or similar environment is preferred.
* Demonstrable experience working across multiple engineering disciplines within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
* Strong mechanical maintenance experience, ideally including pumps, valves, bearings, seals, gearboxes, alignment and associated process equipment.
* Electrical maintenance experience covering motors, drives, starters and control panels.
* Experience with instrumentation, calibration, sensors, transmitters, actuators and control valves.
* Experience supporting PLCs, control systems and industrial networks.
* Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis, thermography and ultrasound
