Base pay rangeAn industry-leading entertainment group is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Financial Controller to join its London‑based finance team. This award‑winning business has an excellent reputation within the entertainment sector and operates across multiple markets, delivering high‑quality content through a range of established platforms. Known for its creative strength and commercial focus, the group continues to grow and diversify its portfolio while retaining an entrepreneurial, collaborative culture.
This is complimented by maintaining a strong focus on financial discipline, commercial insight and operational delivery.
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller plays a key role within the finance function, supporting both UK and group entities and directly managing a team of 8 whilst also supporting the wider finance team.
The role combines core financial control, statutory and group reporting, audit and compliance with a strong element of commercial support and business partnering across the organisation. This is a hands‑on position requiring both technical strength and the ability to engage effectively with non‑finance stakeholders.
A key part of the remit is driving improvement across systems, controls and processes, including automation and change management.
This role will predominantly be office based, requiring you to be in their London offices at least 4 days a week.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, manage and develop a team of 8, ensuring high standards of delivery and control
- Responsibility for group financial management, including statutory reporting, audit, tax and compliance
- Production of accurate and timely management accounts, cashflow reporting and forecasts
- Full involvement in budgeting, forecasting and planning processes
- Provide commercial analysis and insight to support senior management decision‑making
- Strengthen financial controls, policies and governance frameworks
- Drive improvements in finance systems, automation and reporting efficiency
- Oversee payroll, VAT and related regulatory submissions
- Manage relationships with external auditors, advisors and banking partners
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA preferred; ACCA considered)
- Trained in audit, ideally within a top‑tier or well‑regarded accountancy practice
- Several years’ post‑qualification experience gained within an entertainment, media or creative business of reasonable scale
- Previous experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role
- Strong technical accounting expertise, including UK GAAP, group consolidations and taxation
- Proven people management experience with the ability to lead and develop teams
- Commercially astute, with experience of business partnering and stakeholder engagement
- Demonstrated track record of improving systems, controls and finance processes
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Advanced Excel and financial systems capability
