We are seeking an exceptional Group Financial Controller (GFC) to lead and integrate our end-to-end Finance function. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring high-quality financial reporting, strong governance, data integrity, and efficient finance operations across the Group.

You will partner closely with the Finance Director, CFO, and Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic financial leadership that supports operational performance, regulatory compliance, and long-term organisational sustainability.

This is a high-impact role suited to a technically strong, commercially astute finance leader who thrives in complex, multi-site environments and is passionate about driving performance and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic financial leadership and uphold strong governance across the Finance function.
  • Ensure accurate, timely consolidated reporting and statutory submissions.
  • Strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and balance sheet governance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, cash flow forecasting and working capital optimisation.
  • Maintain oversight of statutory accounts, technical accounting, tax strategy and compliance.
  • Lead financial risk management, scenario planning and resilience assessments.
  • Oversee treasury operations, cash management, hedging and banking relationships.
  • Prepare and present Board-quality reporting and insight to support effective decision-making.
Transactional Finance Oversight
  • Lead and oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash, Payroll, VAT and PAYE compliance.
  • Ensure accurate, timely and compliant processing of high-volume transactions across 50+ sites.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, BACS approvals and supplier payment governance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in transactional efficiency, accuracy and control.
Finance Data & Systems
  • Ensure high-quality financial data governance, integrity and reporting structures.
  • Oversee ERP alignment, finance system integrations and reporting automation.
  • Lead resolution of data issues, system risks and cross-platform dependencies.
  • Strengthen data architecture, hierarchies and reporting automation to enhance insight and efficiency.
Finance Transformation & Change
  • Lead and oversee finance change programmes, ERP implementations and system upgrades.
  • Drive digital tools, automation initiatives and continuous process improvement.
  • Ensure finance systems and reporting frameworks operate cohesively to support decision-making and compliance.
Business Partnership & ESG
  • Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to provide insight, challenge and strategic support.
  • Business partner with the Head of Sustainability to ensure financial validation of ESG and sustainability reporting, delivered accurately and on time.
  • Build strong relationships with HMRC, auditors, advisors and banking partners.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor and develop direct reports and the wider Finance team.
  • Foster a high-performance culture built on ownership, accountability and collaboration.
  • Support succession planning, capability development and technical training.
  • Promote cross-functional learning and shared best practice.
  • Lead the Reward & Recognition pillar within Finance, shaping initiatives that celebrate excellence and collaboration.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Proven senior finance leadership experience within complex, multi-site or multi-entity organisations.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise and regulatory knowledge.
  • Experience leading high-volume transactional finance operations.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems, financial data governance and reporting automation.
  • Demonstrable experience leading finance transformation or system change programmes.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
