The role:

As a Finance Officer (Projects) you will be responsible for the co-ordination and governance of capital funding for new Major Projects & Investments across the Council, providing high-quality technical financial advice and guidance to senior management. You will also support the Group Finance Manager in planning the Council’s future Capital Programme and will support directorates with the development of robust financial strategies and business cases, ensuring alignment with the Council’s plan pillars.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with senior management teams, providing financial expertise and guidance in relation to capital finding governance and capital finance planning
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on financial matters.
  • Support the development of robust financial strategies and business cases, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance, providing timely and accurate management information, reports, and forecasts
  • Conduct financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation
  • Support the identification of areas of financial risk and develop mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting tools
Our offer to you:
  • At least 27 days holiday, plus bank holidays rising to 32 after 5 years’ service (pro rata if part time) - option to purchase further days
  • Agile working (role dependent) - a “Flexibility First” approach to agile working, where flexibility is the norm rather than the exception
