Job Description & How to Apply Below
What will you be doing? You'll support the wider finance team across a mix of responsibilities, including:
Processing and allocating cash receipts against customer accounts Completing bank reconciliations and looking into anything that doesn't balance Managing the sales ledger and keeping customer accounts accurate and up to date Supporting credit control, including chasing overdue invoices and dealing with customer queries Processing supplier invoices and preparing regular payment runs Reconciling supplier statements and resolving any discrepancies Helping with the preparation and submission of VAT returns Getting involved with month-end and supporting the wider finance team when needed There's plenty to learn and enough variety to keep things interesting.
What are they looking for? You don't need years and years of experience, and they're not expecting you to know everything from day one. You'll ideally have already spent some time working in an accounts or finance environment and understand the basics of how a finance team operates. You might already be an Accounts Assistant looking for broader exposure. Or perhaps your experience has mainly been within Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger or Credit Control and you're ready to add a few more strings to your bow.
Either way, you'll need:
Some previous accounts or finance experience A good head for numbers and strong attention to detail Reasonable Excel skills The ability to stay organised and manage your workload A willingness to ask questions and learn The confidence to investigate something when the numbers don't quite add up They're not looking for the finished article. What matters more is that you're switched on, keen to develop and ready to take on more as your experience grows.
What's in it for you? You'll have the chance to build experience across several areas of finance, learn from an established team and gradually take on more responsibility. You'll also get:
Hybrid and flexible working 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays A range of employee benefits and retail discounts If your current finance role is starting to feel a little repetitive, or you're simply ready to broaden your experience, click "apply now".
