This is an exciting post which allows the successful candidate the opportunity to work as part of the 8b team at Royal Liverpool University Hospital. The ward is a mixed ward of palliative care, haematology and general medicine. The role involves supporting qualified practitioners to deliver high levels of care to patients in an acute setting. • Participate in all aspects of patient care, with particular attention to personal hygiene and grooming.
• Provide patients with toileting needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.
• Support patients in managing incontinence and promotion of continence.
• Record patients' fluid intake and output using fluid balance charts.
• Prepare and serve patients' meals, drinks and snacks, assisting and feeding patients as necessary.
• Record patients' dietary intake when indicated in the patient’s plan of care.
• Enable patients to maintain/improve their mobility by using exercise and mobility appliances.
• Assist in the prevention of pressure sore development as directed by the registered nurse in conjunction with the patient’s plan of care.
• Insert cannulae, obtain bloods and remove cannulae, catheters and nasogastric tubes.
• Undertake the dressing of non-complex wounds, in accordance with identified competencies and in conjunction with the plan of care.

• Demonstrable experience working in a hospital setting at NVQ Level 2.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Competence in performing tasks delegated by a registered nurse.
