Location: Linda McCartney Centre, Liverpool

Contract: Permanent, Full time – 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £38,682 – £46,580 per annum

Job Overview

We are seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work within our multidisciplinary Sexual Health team, providing specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention to support patients whose physical, psychological, or functional needs affect their ability to access and engage with sexual health care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake holistic OT assessments focusing on functional ability, independence, access, and participation
  • Deliver person‑centred interventions to support safe engagement with sexual health services
  • Advise on reasonable adjustments, environmental adaptations, and access needs within clinic and outreach settings
  • Work closely with clinicians, nurses, health advisers, psychologists, and Public Health colleagues
  • Contribute to service development, pathway redesign, and inclusive practice aligned to Public Health priorities
  • Maintain high standards of clinical documentation, governance, and confidentiality
  • Support delivery of commissioned outcomes, KPIs, and service transformation linked to contract requirements
About You
  • Be a HCPC‑registered Occupational Therapist
  • Have post‑qualification experience within community, physical health, mental health, or specialist services
  • Demonstrate strong clinical reasoning, autonomy, and adaptability
  • Be confident working with complex needs, sensitive issues, and diverse populations
  • Be committed to inclusive, trauma‑informed, and non‑judgemental care

Experience in sexual health is not essential – full induction, training, and supervision will be provided.

Qualifications
  • Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
  • HCPC Registration
Experience
  • Demonstrable previous experience of working with young people and /or in a sexual health setting
  • Evidence of a contribution to clinical education of less experienced staff, students or assistants
  • Evidence of participation in audit
  • Evidence of the advanced skills required to plan complex interventions
Knowledge
  • Evidence of sound clinical knowledge and specialist skills relevant to the clinical caseload
  • Broad knowledge of current best practice in Occupational Therapy
  • Have an understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession
Skills
  • Willingness to undertake further training in clinical skills such as the Diploma of the College of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare
  • Ability to manage own workload, determine priorities and delegate tasks
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to keep accurate legible patient notes
  • Teaching / Presentations at In‑Service level
  • Able to evaluate and be critical of self
