The OpportunityWe are seeking an Adviser to join NHS Resolution’s Practitioner Performance Advice service (Advice) at an exciting time as we embark on an ambitious programme to support and promote a just and fair culture across the NHS. Our service provides independent, expert advice and support to healthcare organisations and medical, dental, and pharmacy practitioners.
The purpose of the role is to provide the point of contact between Practitioner Performance Advice and a number of allocated employing organisations and to ensure that these organisations can access expert, high quality, right first time and consistent advice to fairly resolve concerns in doctors, dentists and pharmacists.

What you'll be doingThe role has 5 main components:
- Developing relationships with a number of allocated link organisations, including trusts, government agencies, NHS England and independent sector employers
- Giving expert advice
- Delivering education and training to senior leaders in the healthcare system
- Service Development
- Advocating for the service
You will be expected to operate across all health sectors and other jurisdictions with a range of professionals and with staff at a senior and executive level.
What you'll bring Skills & Abilities- Ability to work autonomously and make recommendations to employing/contracting organisations without reference to others based upon independent judgement and interpretation of policies.
- Practical experience of managing complex performance cases. Understanding of improvement tools and techniques.
- Understanding of the broad NHS strategy and policy agendas.
- Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and conflict management skills required to communicate controversial service improvement or organisational change issues.
- Track record of national networking.
- Experience of managing performance concerns in line with regulatory frameworks:
Performers Lists regulatory frameworks and Maintaining High Professional Standards (MHPS). - Broad experience of facilitation and mediation in management of conflict both in individual and collective settings
- Recent significant experience at senior level with proven track record of using professional knowledge to bring about change.
- Significant experience of facilitating and managing change within and across organisations.
- Significant experience of working with senior managers and leaders.
- Good understanding/experience of educational and management options for addressing poor performance.
- Previous NHS experience Proven track record and significant experience of successful working with staff to deliver change.
- Educated to Doctorate level or equivalent knowledge, experience and competency. Medical, HR, dental, pharmacy or legal background or experience.
- In depth knowledge of Performers List and/or Maintaining High Professional Standards (MHPS) and how these apply in managing performance concerns.
- An understanding of principles and practices in relation to the promotion of equality and diversity.
- An understanding of confidentiality policies/procedures.
