Assist the registered nurse in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.

Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients andtheir relatives/carers.

To practice competently, you must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities required for lawful, safe and effective practice without direct supervision. You must acknowledge the limits of your professional competence and only undertake practice and accept responsibilities for those activities in which you are competent; this includes the use of medical equipment.

Main duties of the job

Clinical
With appropriate training undertake clinical skills

Health and Safety
To promote, monitor and maintain health and safety of self and others within the workplace as per Trust Health & Safety Policy.

To promote security of self, others and property within the work place as per Trust policy.

To use in a proper and safe manner the equipment/facilities provided and report any concerns

To refrain from the wilful misuse of or interference with anything provided which might endanger you or others.

To report all equipment hazards and defects and take out of use.

To report all accidents and near misses and ensure that datix are completed

To maintain and promote Trust policy of safe disposal of hazardous and nonhazardous waste

Managerial / Leadership
Contribute to effective team working.

To maintain and promote confidentiality of information as per Trust policy.

Education and Development Develop own skills and knowledge.

To attend and participate in mandatory study day.

To have an annual appraisal as per Trust policy.

Patient Care
Support people's equality, diversity and rights.

Promote best practice.

Convey a positive image of self and the Trust at all times.

Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self andothers.

Participate in clinical audits as required.

Minimise risk to patients, staff and others by adhering to Trust Risk

Person Specification Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in healthcare
  • Willingness to undertake further study
Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience in a similar care environment
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
  • To have awareness of their role in the hospital setting
Skills and Attributes
  • Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting.
  • Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of understanding
  • Able to present information and refer questions to others where appropriate.
  • Able to deal with sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • An understanding of prioritising nurse care.
  • Basic IT skills in email
  • Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues in the health care setting
