We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, registered Pharmacist who wants to make a real difference to patient care and join us at one of the largest cardiothoracic trusts in the country.
You will work with our friendly and forward-thinking Pharmacy Team in providing and developing an efficient and comprehensive pharmaceutical service for patients across several specialists.
Starting at band 6, the post holder will be taken through a carefully devised programme that will allow them to gain further experience and ultimately progress to a band 7 specialist rotational pharmacist.
Main duties of the jobYou will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care whilst rotating through several specialties, including cardiology, respiratory medicine, cardio‑thoracic surgery and palliative care. You will be fully supported through our comprehensive in‑house training programme and be mentored by a senior clinical pharmacist at each stage of your rotation. As we are committed to continuing professional development, you will have the opportunity to study for a clinical pharmacy diploma / MSc , which will also include Non‑Medical Prescribing pathway if needed.
If you progress to band 7 level, your rotations will become longer, allowing for more specialist activities such as attending ward rounds and clinics. You will also be given the opportunity to develop skills in delivering training and looking into more advanced aspects of medicines safety.
Qualifications & Education- Registered member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Vocational Masters degree in Pharmacy
- Training year in hospital or other experience working in hospital
- Pre‑registration training and experience
- Demonstrable team working
- Demonstrable commitment to CPD
- Basic clinical knowledge in a range of topics
- Hospital experience
- Audit or Research
- Awareness of current political agendas
- Ability to work on initiative and as part of the team
- Able to work independently and compute information from various sources quickly
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Able to accept responsibility for area of pharmacy practice
- Analysis of information relating to individual patients medication
- Ability to recognise own limitations and boundaries and need to consult with senior colleagues
- Basic problem‑solving abilities
- Numeracy and literacy
Ability to study for further qualification e.g. Clinical diploma and MSc - Negotiation and influencing skills
- Acts professionally
- Self‑motivated
- Reliable and flexible
- Displays a good level of confidence
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
