Personal Assistant / Support Worker - 16 Hours

A caring, reliable and enthusiastic Personal Assistant/Support Worker is required to join an established care team supporting a young man with complex physical disabilities in his family home.
This is a contracted 16-hour per week position, working alongside an experienced personal assistant and his family to provide person-centred support.
About the roleHe is a friendly young man with a great sense of humour who enjoys getting out into the community,going for drives, visiting cafés, watching films, gaming and spending time with people who know himwell.
He has a progressive neurological condition and requires support with all aspects of his daily living. The successful applicant will become part of a small, dedicated team committed to helping him live a safe,comfortable and fulfilling life.
Duties include- Providing full personal care with dignity and respect.
- Assisting with showering, dressing and all aspects of daily living.
- Safe moving and handling using specialist equipment, including a hoist.
- Supporting him with eating, drinking and maintaining his wellbeing.
- Accompanying him on community outings, appointments and leisure activities using his wheelchair accessible vehicle.
- Working closely with his full-time PA and family to ensure continuity of care.
- Following care plans and maintaining high standards of person-centred support.
- Caring, patient and compassionate.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Able to work well as part of a small team.
- Willing to learn his individual routines and support needs.
- Comfortable providing personal care.
- Physically able to undertake moving and handling duties (training provided where required).
Previous care experience is desirable but not essential
, as full training and support will be provided forthe right person.
This is a rural location, having a drivers licence might be beneficial.

Successful applicants will be subject to PVG/Disclosure Scotland checks, satisfactory references and a 6 months probationary period in line with employment requirements.
The young man's hobbies are going to the cinema and using computer games, watching TV and having a good laugh. There are times the young man like to spend some time on his own and enjoys his own company.
