Are you looking to start a career in healthcare but don’t have experience or qualifications?

This is an 8 month apprenticeship programme with roles across the Mental Health Care Division, alongside completion of the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care, delivered through weekly college attendance.

Mental Health Care Division provides a wide range of services including adult and older adult mental health, addiction, acquired brain injury, psychology, and crisis care, across home, community, and hospital settings. The Division also delivers mental health liaison services in A&E and within the criminal justice system, supporting residents in Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Warrington.

This apprenticeship is an exciting learning opportunity for you to gain valuable experience whilst also completing an Intermediate Apprenticeship Framework at level 2. The apprenticeship will be undertaken over 8 months and will include exposure to both clinical and educational experiences.

Within this role individuals will be required to carry out assigned duties, involving direct care and observation of service users under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse or other team member where delegated.

You will be required to participate in the shift system in operation within the ward/team/department.

You must attend the education sessions provided to support the attainment of Intermediate Apprenticeship Framework at level 2.

Following satisfactory engagement with the course requirements, a band 3 Nursing Assistant post may be offered upon completion.

Mersey Care is one of the largest trusts providing physical health and mental health services in the North West, serving more than 1.4 million people across our region and are also commissioned for services that cover the North West, North Wales and the Midlands.

We offer specialist inpatient and community services that support physical and mental health and specialist inpatient mental health, learning disability, addiction and brain injury services. Mersey Care is one of only three trusts in the UK that offer high secure mental health facilities.

At the heart of all we do is our commitment to ‘perfect care’ – care that is safe, effective, positively experienced, timely, equitable and efficient. We support our staff to do the best job they can and work alongside service users, their families, and carers to design and develop future services together. We’re currently delivering a programme of organisational and service transformation to significantly improve the quality of the services we provide and safely reduce cost as we do so.

Flexible working requests will be considered for all roles.
