Job Summary

The Clinical Manager – Occupational Healthis responsible forthe clinical leadership, operational management, and quality assurance of occupational health services. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based occupational health care that supports employee wellbeing, promotes workplace health and safety, and complies with relevant professional, legal, and regulatory requirements.

The Clinical Manager provides leadership to multidisciplinary occupational health teams, oversees clinical governance, manages service performance, and works collaboratively with employers, employees, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to achieve positive health and business outcomes.

The role supports the implementation of clinical governance requirements, consistent clinical standards, and quality assurance processes across occupational health services, working under the direction of senior clinical leadership.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership
  • Provide professional and clinical leadership to occupational health practitioners, nurses, physicians, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based occupational health services.
  • Support clinical decision-making and provide guidance on complex occupational health cases.
  • Promote best practice and continuous improvement across all clinical activities.
  • Provide day-to-day clinical guidance to occupational health staff, escalating complex, high-risk, or strategic matters to the appropriate senior clinical lead.
  • Promote a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and patient-centredoccupational health care.
Service Management
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of occupational health services.
  • Ensure services are delivered efficiently, meeting contractual obligations, service standards, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitor workload, staffing levels, and resource allocation to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Develop and implement service improvement initiatives.
Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, andorganisationalpolicies.
  • Maintainaccurateclinical records and oversee documentation standards.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and service performance metrics.
  • Implement and manageTMICC'sclinical governance activities including audit, incident review, learning from incidents, clinical risk management, and quality improvement actions.
  • Assist with preparation for internal and external audits, inspections, accreditations, and service reviews, ensuring evidence and actions are appropriately documented.
  • Contribute to the delivery of clinical governance principles across occupational health services, including patient safety, clinical effectiveness, risk management, audit, education, information governance, and patient or employee experience.
Occupational Health Service Delivery
  • Oversee occupational health assessments, fitness-for-work evaluations, health surveillance programs, sickness absence management, vaccination programs, and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate management of workplace health risks and occupational illnesses.
  • Support return-to-work and workplace adjustment programs.
  • Advise employers on occupational health matters and workplace health strategies.
  • Support the delivery of workplace wellbeing, rehabilitation, health promotion, and preventative healthprogrammesalignedwithoccupational health priorities.
  • Contribute occupational health input to health risk assessments, occupational exposure monitoring, safe working practices, and workplace health risk reduction initiatives.
  • Support medical emergency response planning, business continuity planning, and site-level occupational health preparedness as required.
