Salary: £33,000–£40,000 pro rata, plus bonus scheme
Rota: 7 nights on, 14 nights off
Hours: 7:30pm–8:30am
Contract: 0.75 FTE, averaging 31–33 hours per week
THE OPPORTUNITY
An established independent veterinary hospital in North West England is seeking an experienced Night Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its dedicated emergency and critical care team.
You’ll work alongside experienced ECC Veterinary Surgeons, managing emergency presentations and caring for first-opinion and referral inpatients overnight.
Full referral support and advanced diagnostic facilities are available.
This is a rewarding ECC nursing opportunity offering a 7-on, 14-off rota, advanced facilities and exposure to complex inpatient and referral cases.
THE ROLE
Your responsibilities will include:
• Handling out-of-hours telephone calls and supporting emergency triage
• Assisting with acute emergency and critical care cases
• Providing overnight care for first-opinion and referral inpatients
• Admitting and triaging routine and emergency referrals
• Supporting complex anaesthesia and intensive patient monitoring
• Running in-house laboratory tests and assisting with diagnostics
• Managing feeding tubes, catheters and transfusion medicine where required
• Maintaining accurate clinical records and providing clear handovers to the daytime teams

ABOUT YOU
The hospital is looking for an RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse who is:
• Passionate about emergency, critical care and inpatient nursing
• Confident working under pressure during busy night shifts
• Experienced in complex anaesthesia and critical inpatient care, or keen to develop
• Compassionate and reassuring when supporting clients during emergencies
• Capable, enthusiastic and professional
• An effective team member with excellent record-keeping skills
Experience with feeding tubes, catheters, transfusion medicine and complex anaesthesia would be particularly beneficial.
