Our client, a prominent name in the IT sector, is seeking a highly skilled Technical Project Manager to lead the migration of their enterprise data platform to Microsoft Fabric and drive data governance and Microsoft Purview adoption. This contract role sits at the intersection of technology, delivery, and governance, requiring strong project management capabilities combined with a deep understanding of modern data platforms, cloud analytics, and data governance frameworks.

The ideal candidate has experience delivering large-scale data platform migrations, partnering with engineering and business teams, and enabling governed, self-service analytics  Responsibilities:
Microsoft Fabric Migration & Delivery Lead end-to-end migration from legacy data platforms (e.g., Synapse, SQL, Databricks, on-premises) to Microsoft Fabric Define and manage the migration roadmap, milestones, dependencies, and risks Coordinate delivery across data engineering, BI, analytics, security, and business teams Ensure successful implementation of Fabric components including One Lake, Data Engineering & Data Factory, Data Warehousing & Lakehouse, and Power BI integration Manage cutover, validation, and post-migration stabilisation Data Governance & Purview Adoption Drive enterprise-wide data governance strategy execution using Microsoft Purview Lead implementation of data cataloguing and metadata management, data classification & sensitivity labelling, lineage, data discovery, and business glossary Establish access policies and compliance controls Partner with data owners and stewards to ope rationalise governance processes while balancing governance with self-service analytics enablement Program & Stakeholder Management Own program planning, execution, and reporting (scope, schedule, budget, risks) Establish clear governance, decision forums, and delivery cadence Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to senior leadership Align technical delivery with business priorities and OKRs Manage vendors, system integrators, and partners as needed Technical Leadership & Collaboration Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders Translate technical concepts into clear outcomes and timelines Ensure adherence to architecture, security, and compliance standards Support platform adoption through change management, training, and enablement

Job Requirements:

Experience Experience in technical project/program management Proven experience delivering cloud data platform migrations Hands-on experience managing projects involving Microsoft Fabric Strong experience driving data governance programs and tooling adoption

Experience with Microsoft Purview (catalogue, lineage, classification, policies) Technical Skills Strong understanding of modern data architectures (Lakehouse, Data Mesh concepts) Knowledge of the Azure data ecosystem (Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Power BI) Understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance concepts Familiarity with CI/CD for data platforms and Agile/SAFe/hybrid delivery models Project & Leadership Skills Expert in program planning, risk management, change and dependency management Strong stakeholder management and communication skills Ability to lead cross-functional, matrixed teams Comfortable working in complex enterprise environments

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience migrating to Microsoft Fabric at enterprise scale Experience implementing enterprise data governance operating models Knowledge of regulatory environments (GDPR, SOX, HIPAA, etc.) PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or equivalent certification Azure or Microsoft Fabric certifications What Success Looks Like:
