Responsibilities
The post holder will act as the technical specialist for the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system, providing day‑to‑day support, configuration, documentation and training to users across the Trust. Core duties include:
- Configure and maintain the EPR system modules, ensuring alignment with clinical and administrative workflows.
- Analyse, investigate and resolve complex system incidents, providing work‑arounds and coordinating permanent fixes.
- Document all configuration changes, user templates and reference data models, keeping records current.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, system providers and other NHS organisations to drive system improvements and meet project timelines.
- Monitor and report on system usage and data quality, supporting Key Performance Indicator development.
- Provide on‑call, out‑of‑hours support as part of the dedicated rota.
- Lead post‑implementation reviews, workshops and training sessions for staff and junior team members.
- Ensure all incident and change management processes comply with ITIL standards.
- Degree level or equivalent knowledge gained through experience.
- Experience supporting Trust‑wide clinical and non‑clinical systems, preferably with EPR or Patient Administration Systems.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain technical issues to non‑technical staff.
- Experience of working within a PRINCE2 or similar project environment.
- PRINCE2 Foundation certification.
- Experience negotiating with system suppliers and translating user requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Visio or similar planning tools.
- Familiarity with national and local healthcare IT standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload effectively.
- Experience in audit support and reporting to governance bodies.
