ICT Support Officer — Liverpool Hub

Great Schools Trust

Location:

Liverpool Hub — initially based at King’s Liverpool, moving to King’s Hawthornes in due course

Great Schools Trust is seeking a proactive, customer-focused ICT Support Officer to support the smooth running of ICT systems across our Liverpool Hub.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, working directly with people and providing high‑quality technical support in a busy school environment. The role will initially be based primarily at King’s Liverpool, supporting staff and students with day‑to‑day ICT issues, before moving to King’s Hawthornes as the Liverpool Hub develops.

You will provide first‑line ICT support, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, support devices including tablets, maintain accurate helpdesk and asset records, and help ensure that classroom technology, networks and systems operate effectively. You will also work closely with the Trust’s central IT team, external suppliers, and school colleagues to deliver a reliable, professional, and solutions‑focused ICT service.

The successful candidate will have practical ICT support experience, strong customer‑service skills and the ability to remain calm, organised and professional when responding to technical issues. You will be confident supporting PCs, laptops, tablets, peripherals, Microsoft systems, user accounts and common applications. Experience in a school or education setting would be helpful, but is not essential.

Key responsibilities
  • Providing first‑line technical support to staff and students, face‑to‑face and remotely
  • Responding to ICT support requests through the helpdesk system
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, device, peripheral and application issues
  • Supporting PCs, laptops, tablets, Android and Apple devices, classroom technology and audio‑visual equipment
  • Assisting with mobile device management, app rollouts and updates
  • Carrying out basic network, server, proxy and connectivity checks
  • Supporting user account and access permission maintenance
  • Installing, configuring, repairing and rebuilding ICT equipment where appropriate
  • Maintaining accurate ICT asset and call management records
  • Supporting ICT security, backup, encryption and safe data practice
  • Escalating complex issues appropriately
  • Travelling between Trust academies when required
  • Working in line with safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and Trust policies
Qualifications
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent
  • Relevant IT knowledge, training or practical experience
  • Experience providing IT technical support
  • The ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software and network issues
  • A good understanding of PCs, laptops, tablets, peripherals and common applications
  • Confidence supporting Microsoft systems and user accounts
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines
  • A calm, patient and professional approach
  • A proactive, flexible and solutions‑focused mindset
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • The ability to travel easily between Trust sites, including King’s Liverpool and King’s Hawthornes
Desirable experience

Desirable experience includes IT support in a school or education setting, supporting iPads or other tablets, using mobile device management systems, maintaining ICT asset records, supporting server or network systems, and working with external ICT suppliers.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary
  • 30 days’ annual leave for support staff, plus bank holidays
  • Career development and progression opportunities
  • Access to appropriate digital tools and equipment
  • Trust‑wide collaboration and professional support
  • Optional Benenden Health membership
