Join our team as an Infrastructure Manager and play a key role in delivering the secure, resilient digital foundations that support clinical and corporate services across the Trust. You'll lead a skilled infrastructure team while driving the performance, reliability and evolution of our on-premise and cloud platforms in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Main duties of the job

The Infrastructure Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operation, support and continuous improvement of the Trust's enterprise infrastructure, ensuring high levels of availability, resilience and security across on-premise and cloud platforms. The role provides senior technical leadership, acting as the escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents, overseeing root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions to prevent recurrence. The post holder will manage and develop the Infrastructure Team, drive proactive monitoring, maintenance and lifecycle management, and lead the delivery of infrastructure projects aligned to strategic priorities.

In addition, they will ensure robust governance around change, security and compliance, supporting a stable and future-ready digital environment that underpins safe and effective patient care.

responsibilities

Lead, supervise and support the Infrastructure Team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring effective workload management, staff development, mentoring and delivery of a high-quality service. Lead the management and resolution of complex 3rdline incidents escalated from Desktop and Support teams. Act as the technical authority for VMware ESXi, Windows Server and virtual infrastructure. Manage, monitor and support the Trusts Azure environment Build, configure, optimise and maintain Windows-based virtual servers, ensuring best practice standards.

Lead in maintaining the Trusts core infrastructure including Active Directory, Intune, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and identity management. Analyse and interpret advanced system logs, performance data and diagnostic outputs to identify root causes and implement resilient fixes. Oversee patching, security hardening, firmware upgrades and system lifecycle management. Ensure robust monitoring of infrastructure through PRTG monitoring tools and act proactively on alerts.

Maintain storage and backup technologies, ensuring DR readiness and backup integrity. Support Trust-wide projects requiring advanced infrastructure expertise. Manage and resolve primarily 3rd line incidents assigned to the Technical Services team by Digital Service managers or escalation process from Desktop Support team. These incidents are by definition highly complex and require specialist knowledge. This may require prolonged analysis and interpretation of highly complex system files and/or statistical reports, to determine the root cause and provide adequate steps to resolve the incident and identify options to prevent similar incidents.
