Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of around 100 civil protective orders in a very busy team, with high volume, quick turnaround applications
  • Open files and draft all paperwork for the civil order applications, be responsible for your own management information data input completion, administration and diary keeping
  • Managing and taking responsibility for shared inboxes
  • Taking calls regularly to provide ad hoc advice and/or taking calls for team members on their court days
  • Present cases in the Magistrates' courts or Crown Court if you have Higher Rights and are daily in person travelling to our designated courts for hearings
  • Interact with both the client personnel and respondents, defence solicitors, police officers and counsel
  • Organise Case Manager diary and action lists
  • Legal drafting and bundling
  • Achieve set financial and chargeable targets and using a time recording application to record all work done on individual files

This list is not intended to be exhaustive, and you will be expected to perform other duties and have other responsibilities that fall within the wider remit of the role.

  • Experience of drafting (and presenting preferable) cases in court
  • Willingness to learn and undertake this work (and advocacy where relevant)

  • Excellent IT skills
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative

  • Experience of advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of advising and acting on behalf of police forces (desirable)
