Criminal Duty Solicitor / Criminal Advocate – Merseyside – Competitive Salary

Venn Group’s specialist legal recruitment team is recruiting for a Criminal Duty Solicitor / Criminal Advocate on behalf of a well-established and growing multi-service law firm in Merseyside
. This permanent opportunity offers the chance to join a highly regarded criminal defence team committed to delivering access to justice and high-quality legal services.

You will be responsible for:

• Representing clients detained at police stations and providing advice throughout criminal proceedings
• Managing a varied caseload of criminal defence matters covering a broad range of offences
• Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court, including contested hearings and summary trials
• Providing practical and client-focused legal advice in publicly funded matters
• Working closely with colleagues to achieve positive outcomes for clients

• Qualified Solicitor with at least 1 year's PQE in criminal law
• Accredited Police Station Representative
• Criminal Litigation Accreditation preferred, although candidates willing to obtain accreditation will be considered
• Strong advocacy, communication and client care skills
• Experience managing a busy caseload with minimal supervision
• Comfortable using case management systems and legal technology
• Passionate about criminal defence and publicly funded legal work
• Able to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Professional, pragmatic and team-oriented approach

• Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
