Overview

The Supply Chain Planner will be responsible for providing tactical supply chain support for Elanco External Manufacturing. The role is responsible for creating and maintaining production plans with contract manufacturers, championing supply chain standard processes, ensuring production schedule is aligned with market requirements, and ensuring accurate planning in SAP, tracking and managing KPIs, managing inventory, and timely communication on supply status.

Responsibilities
  • Production Planning
    • Manage production planning cycles in SAP (PPDS) and align demand with capacity at external manufacturers.
    • Review market requirements with supply planning teams to ensure service and inventory targets are met.
    • Generate and maintain rolling production plans and support long-term capacity planning.
    • Partner with internal teams and contract manufacturers to ensure schedules are realistic and achievable.
  • Order & Supplier Management
    • Create and manage purchase orders, track deliveries and maintain accurate system data.
    • Follow up with contract manufacturers on open orders and delivery timelines.
    • Support invoicing, goods receipts and issue resolution across SAP/Ariba.
    • Act as a key contact for internal teams to ensure alignment on deliveries and logistics.
  • Inventory & Risk Management
    • Monitor inventory levels across materials and finished goods.
    • Identify risks (expiry, slow-moving stock, losses) and propose mitigation actions.
    • Support inventory reconciliations and physical counts at external manufacturing sites.
    • Help manage write-offs and stock adjustments when required.
  • Master Data & Systems
    • Maintain accurate master data (lead times, costs, MOQ, safety stock) in SAP.
    • Support vendor setup and updates across internal systems.
    • Ensure data integrity and support reporting and planning processes.
  • Operational Coordination
    • Track key supply chain KPIs (on-time delivery, stock levels, losses, etc.).
    • Support supply review/ROP meetings and ensure follow-up on actions.
    • Assist with deviations, change controls and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in lieu of the degree.
  • 2+ years’ experience in supply chain management.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with areas inside and outside of Elanco.
  • Production planning experience.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) skills.
  • Advanced English skills (spoken/written).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • SAP competency (MRP, PPDS, IBP, Ariba).
  • APICS CPIM or equivalent supply chain certification.
  • Oral and written communication/interpersonal interaction skills.
  • Knowledge of supply chain tools and business processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Experience interfacing with various manufacturing functional groups, such as production, logistics, quality control, quality assurance, and technical services.
  • Logistics/Inventory experience.
  • Knowledge of Power BI and other report/dashboard creation tools to support the operation.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
Additional Information

Location:

Hybrid – 30 days per quarter on site. Overnight travel may be required (5-10%).
