Buyer – Supply Chain

We are currently seeking a Buyer to join a dynamic Supply Chain team, supporting the delivery of procurement and sourcing activities across a wide range of goods, works and services. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to play a key role in delivering value for money, driving commercial improvements and supporting strategic procurement initiatives across the organisation.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and contractors to ensure procurement activities are compliant, efficient and aligned to organisational objectives.

Location: North West region (Liverpool, St Helens and Warrington)

Regular travel between sites and supplier locations will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior supply chain leaders and category managers with procurement activities across multiple spend areas
  • Lead and support procurement exercises including RFIs, RFQs, ITTs and mini-competitions
  • Provide procurement guidance and advice to stakeholders across the business
  • Collaborate with operational teams to develop specifications, evaluate bids and support contract awards
  • Manage supplier relationships and support contract performance reviews
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements and added value
  • Maintain procurement plans, trackers and savings reports with accurate and timely data
  • Support procurement activity across areas such as construction materials, repairs and maintenance, warehouse services and waste management
  • Assist with benchmarking, market analysis and value engineering initiatives
  • Drive process improvements and support implementation of innovative procurement solutions
  • Support supplier onboarding and ensure compliance with procurement governance processes
  • Act as an ambassador for the procurement function, building strong internal and external relationships

About You

  • Proven experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain roles
  • Experience with in construction, housing or maintenance environments, with knowledge of relevant compliance standards
  • Strong understanding of the full procurement lifecycle and sourcing methodologies
  • Experience managing tender processes and supporting contract negotiations
  • Ability to manage supplier relationships and monitor performance
  • Strong commercial awareness with a focus on value for money
  • Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement systems
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with accuracy
  • Proactive and customer-focused, with a drive for continuous improvement
  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Professional procurement qualification (e.g. working towards or achieved) desirable
  • Experience working across multiple categories and locations
  • Understanding of contract management, governance and financial compliance

Interview Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a competency-based interview. Interviews are scheduled to take place in the North West week commencing 10th August 2026.
