Equans is looking for a HVAC Engineer working on the Knowsley Schools contract in Liverpool. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Overview

Responsibilities
  • Accountable for ensuring all spaces, environmental/temperature control rooms and equipment are available for end users, keeping downtime to a minimum during breakdowns.
  • Fault find on all A/C units, refrigeration systems and chiller plant on site.
  • Maintain the site’s F-Gas logbook; record losses, recoveries and additions appropriately.
  • Maintain and operate portable and fixed air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
  • Plan, oversee and work with subcontractors during service visits for refrigeration systems.
  • Recover, repair, pressure test, vacuum dehydrate, charge and re-commission A/C units as required.
  • Undertake other engineering tasks as required by the Account Manager or Technical Services Manager.
  • Ensure that PPM and Reactive jobs are processed; diagnose defects and report them; repair faults in a timely and budget-conscious manner.
  • Complete daily job sheets and PPM logs via PDA/tablet in real time using CAFM systems.
  • Be a member of the on-call rota for the contract.
Client/Customer
  • Respond in a timely manner to verbal and written requests.
  • Coordinate quotations with the contract manager; use preferred suppliers where possible.
Helpdesk - PPM
  • Support the Helpdesk in servicing and breakdowns; be available for out-of-hours call-out support for the contract.
Compliance
  • Achieve appointment as Refrigeration Responsible and Competent Person.
  • Complete all operational logs, F-gas reports and job sheets via CAFM and compliance systems.
  • Produce information for quotations; production and collation of Condition / Dilapidation Reports; complete accident/near-miss reports in a timely manner.
  • Inform the site supervisor immediately if dangerous circumstances occur; complete electronic reports for compliance.
SHEQ
  • Work to the company health and safety policy; ensure PPE is safe to use.
  • Ensure test equipment is within calibration; follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works.
Impact

Work to a high standard of Building Maintenance; produce high-quality reports of findings. The role involves being the face of Equans, so smart appearance and ability to discuss findings with others is required.

Complexity
  • Chillers – wet and dry systems; cold rooms and freezers; air conditioning systems (VAV, VRV, FAT boxes); cooling towers; air handling units; pumps; water treatment; building management system; control system.
  • Maintain all documentation and records to the highest standard; understand contracts and obligations; project a professional image of Equans to internal and external customers.
  • Other duties as directed by Line Management; operate in accordance with Best Practice, Equal Opportunities, diversity, health and safety policies; represent Equans professionally.
Qualifications or Required Experience
  • Recognised EITB or CITB apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications in an appropriate discipline.
  • Minimum air conditioning engineer qualifications to NVQ level 2; fully conversant with major manufacturers’ systems and equipment.
  • 18th Edition; fault-finding and practical skills; ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team; strong Excel and IT skills; driving license essential.
