37.5 hours per week (Monday‑Sunday – flexibility required)

As a housekeeper at YMCA Together you will naturally be an empathetic and caring person wanting to provide high standards of cleanliness within our service. Your role as a housekeeper will be to have good attention to detail as part of a team delivering a service that maintains a clean and comfortable environment for everyone.

• Undertake a range of domestic duties associated with the upkeep of service such as, but not limited to: sweeping, vacuuming and mopping floors, dusting and disinfecting work surfaces, cleaning of internal doors, skirting boards and windowsills, comprehensive cleaning of WC’s, communal lounges and communal wet areas, replenishing consumables such as toilet rolls and paper towels, ensuring vacant rooms are prepared and ready for occupation, monitoring stock levels of consumables, cleaning products and equipment and re‑ordering when necessary, completing housekeeping paperwork accurately.
• Work alongside people using our services and treat those with whom you meet in a courteous and respectful manner.
• Promote a supportive and inclusive culture within the service, valuing people and their diversity.
• Act on areas identified as needing improvement.
• Carry out duties and responsibilities in line with CQC regulations and Health and Safety.
• Enhance your skills through learning & development.
• Be flexible and responsive to the changing needs of the service, ensuring our SHREK values run through all the work that you do.

• EXPERIENCE–Ideally you will have a background of working with in a care home setting or similar settings. Have good attention to detail delivering a high standard of cleanliness.
• KNOWLEDGE – A good understanding of relevant and health and safety requirements, or a willingness to learn, including knowledge of cleaning materials, equipment and how to use them.
• COMMUNICATION – Effective communication, fostering a respectful, collaborative and professional approach to a diverse range of people you work alongside, always ensuring confidentiality.
• EMPATHY and RESPECT – The ability to empower people using our services, showing empathy while maintaining professional boundaries.
• COMMITMENT – The ability to work in an innovative and solutions‑focused way, including reflecting and learning as you go, and a willingness to flex and adapt approaches as needed.
• ORGANISATION – Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage and prioritise tasks.

• Experience working within residential settings.
• Knowledge of British Institute of Cleaning Science standards.
