Production Manager

Our client is a leading food manufacturer and distributor based in Liverpool, supplying major national retailers, large food service organisations, and blue‑chip customers.

We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to take ownership of a key production area, driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and high standards across Health & Safety, Quality, Cost, and Performance.

As Production Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing a high‑performing production team, ensuring customer demands are met while driving efficiencies, reducing waste, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.

You will have full ownership and accountability for your production area, managing day‑to‑day operations while identifying opportunities to improve processes, performance, and productivity.

• Drive Health & Safety, Quality, Cost reduction, waste reduction, and operational performance across production areas
• Take full ownership and accountability of the production department
• Monitor production output and ensure delivery against business requirements
• Plan workflows, resources, and labour requirements in line with demand
• Review team performance and identify training and development opportunities
• Motivate, coach, and develop teams to improve engagement and efficiency
• Maintain and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and monthly production performance
• Lead and deliver change initiatives within the department
• Work closely with Materials and Production Planning teams to optimise production flow
• Drive continuous improvement projects and operational excellence initiatives
• Manage budgets and resources in line with business expectations

You will be an experienced Production Manager or Operations professional with a strong background within food manufacturing and a proven track record of leading teams within a fast‑paced environment.

You will have the ability to influence change, improve performance, and develop a positive team culture while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

• Strong background in food manufacturing with experience across Supply Chain, Warehouse, and Transport operations
• Experience managing teams of 100+ employees
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage challenging environments and drive long‑term development
• Demonstrable experience delivering operational change and improvement initiatives
• Confident working independently with the ability to influence and create change
• Experience managing return‑to‑work processes and disciplinary procedures
• Proven ability to create and deliver KPIs and service delivery improvements for customers
• Strong knowledge of BRC standards and food safety compliance requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• PC literate with strong knowledge of inventory systems, MRP, and performance measurement tools
• Results‑driven with a commercial mindset
