In your role as Member Communications Specialist, you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to empower members to engage confidently with their pension by providing communications that are simple, clear, and personalised, at key points through their journey. Support employers in understanding and administering the scheme so they can in turn support members.

You will be responsible for copy creation for communication touchpoints in accordance with project plans. Adhering to planning, briefs and refinements, with a focus on a holistic experience.

As a trusted part of the Pensions Strategy and Proposition team you will:

• Work with the Senior Communication Specialists and Communications Managers to develop multichannel content in alignment with the High-Level Plan and project plans.
• Create content to support online member journeys, taking into consideration the holistic journey and accompanying touchpoints. Proof and manage copy ensuring accuracy of message and compliance with statutory (Legal) and regulatory (Compliance) requirements.
• Ensures the communications proposition is applied consistently across all channels and in line with the wider journey and segmentation requirements.
• Support the Senior Communications Specialist and Communications Managers by working alongside SMEs and Dot Digital Account Manager to develop our email solution.
• Inputs into the strategic development of member communications across multichannel to create effective touchpoints.
• Monitors the effectiveness of communication, producing reports and commentary, suggesting improvements where appropriate.
• Acts as a custodian of the USS brand and style guidelines, ensuring consistent use across all platforms in terms of look, image, identity, and message.
• Controls the accuracy of content and ensures it is clear, engaging and reflects the organisation’s strategic objectives and brand pillars.
• Provides communications expertise, support, and advice on a wide range of projects; represents communications in internal task force projects and forums as required.
• Establishes and maintains effective internal and external stakeholder relationships at all levels.
• Tracks spend against budget for individual content projects, reporting up to the Senior Communication Specialists and Communications Managers where needed.

• Experience with email software (desirable)
• Experience working on long-term projects
• Digital member/customer/user experience (desirable)
• An understanding of segmentation in the context of communications
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Able to manage own workload proactively within an agile working environment
• Able to convert complex information into easily understandable content
• Able to work in a manner that is consistent with the organisation’s ethos and values
• Pensions knowledge advantageous
• Wider financial services/product knowledge advantageous
• Educated to degree level or relevant experience
