West Kent Radio has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Grant Funder. You will be responsible for researching potential grant funds, making applications, liaising with funders and developing relationships.

Your efforts in securing funding will directly support essential programs, including community outreach, volunteer development, and the acquisition of new equipment, enhancing the station’s ability to engage and inform listeners.
By successfully managing grant applications and building relationships with funders, you will help maintain West Kent Radio’s position as a vital resource for the people of Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, and the surrounding areas.
The ideal Grant Funder should possess strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess funding opportunities and match them to the station's needs. They should have excellent writing skills to craft clear, persuasive grant applications and reports. Experience in grant management, particularly within the not-for-profit or media sectors, is essential. They should be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to navigate complex funding guidelines while maintaining a strategic focus.
Building relationships with funders is key, so strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must. Additionally, the candidate should be adaptable, with a genuine passion for community radio and a commitment to supporting the station’s long-term sustainability.
West Kent Radio is seeking an experienced Grant Funder to support our mission of providing community radio services. This role offers an opportunity to help secure funding to sustain and expand our activities. You'll research and apply for grants, building relationships with funders, and ensuring compliance with funding criteria.
Key Responsibilities- Research & Identification of Potential Grants Conduct in-depth research to identify relevant grant opportunities from local, regional, and national sources. Focus on grants for not-for-profit radio stations and community media projects.
- Grant Applications & Compliance Write compelling, tailored applications, ensuring they meet funder guidelines. Ensure all submissions comply with criteria such as use of funds, impact, and sustainability.
- Liaison with Funders Build and maintain professional relationships with funders. Serve as the main contact, keeping them updated on project progress and changes.
- Reporting & Monitoring Provide regular progress reports to designated trustees. Maintain records of applications, grants received, and fund usage.
- Grand Funding System Comfortable working with Microsoft Office, & receiving training on our chosen online grant funding system.
- Grant Funding Expertise Experience researching, writing, and securing grants for not-for-profit organisations, ideally in media or community radio. Familiarity with funding bodies like National Lottery Fund, and Arts Council England.
- Strong Writing & Communication Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and persuasive applications.
- Attention to Detail & Compliance Strong attention to detail, ensuring error‑free, compliant applications. Ability to meet deadlines and track progress.
- Organisational Skills Ability to manage multiple applications and provide regular reports. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and a willingness to learn the station’s online grant system.
- Passion for Community Radio A genuine interest in supporting community radio and its impact on local communities.
