Job Overview

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the patient is fit for an anaesthetic during surgery. This will involve taking a full medical history, and ordering investigations as deemed necessary.

• Assess a patient's suitability and fitness for surgery and anaesthesia using agreed protocols.
• Take a full detailed patient history and carry out a clinical examination.
• Identify and order appropriate diagnostic tests, and action results obtained.
• Communicate effectively with a wide range of disciplines within the MDT to ensure patient safety.
• Clinics are predominantly nurse-led.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in patient assessment and interpretation of investigations for anaesthesia fitness.
• Knowledge of agreed protocols for fitness to surgery and anaesthesia.
