Bowel Cancer Screening Specialist Screening Practitioner (Nursing Role)

Band 6 – Permanent position – 37.5 Hours per week.

We are seeking an experienced registered Nurse to support patients in the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP). The role involves supporting patients throughout their investigation journey and playing a key part in delivering a world‑first screening programme.

• Support patients throughout the screening investigation journey.
• Conduct nurse‑led clinics and attend colonoscopy sessions.
• Process histology outcomes and provide results, including cancer diagnoses.
• Engage patients in health promotion.
• Communicate sensitive and complex information to patients and colleagues, including breaking significant news.
• Priorise and manage workload to meet Trust, BCSP and national targets.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth service operation.

• Registered Nurse with clinical experience.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to discuss sensitive issues.
• Basic understanding or interest in the BCSP and the role of a Specialist Screening Practitioner.
• Desirable experience in screening, gastroenterology, endoscopy, colorectal, pre‑assessment or oncology.
• Full driving licence and access to own car.
• Willingness to travel to sites across Merseyside and Cheshire as required.
• Flexible to adjust start and finish times to cover clinical activity.

• Must undertake the SSP module at level 6/7 at LJM University (study time provided within roster).
• Training will be provided for use of the BCSP IT system.

Band 6, Permanent, 37.5 hours per week. Typical rota from 8:30am – 4:30pm with possible later start or finish times.
