Co‑ordination of the Endoscopy department on a day‑to‑day basis, including planning, allocation and evaluation of work carried out by teams or individuals and self. Roster planning, sickness and absence management. Provide specialist knowledge to all nursing staff on the department. Promote a critical, analytical approach to the delivery of nursing care ensuring that the department environment is responsive to current issues.
In support of the department manager, the deputy endoscopy manager will assist in the review and update of procedures and protocols relating to the care of patients. Develop methods for identifying, maintaining and improving the quality of patient care through facilitation of best practice and clinical benchmarking. Ensure due regard is given to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients/clients.
- Act at all times in a manner that upholds the reputation of the Trust and safeguards the well‑being and dignity of patients and their relatives.
- Act in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and guidance documents and maintain an active status on the NMC register.
- Take every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve knowledge.
- Identify objectives within a personal development plan that support the delivery of high standards of clinical care.
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Post‑registration qualification in the speciality.
- Minimum of two years endoscopy experience.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead a team effectively and safely in the absence of the unit manager.
- Demonstrated management experience and evidence of change management.
- Application of evidence‑based practice and contribution to the development of high standards of patient care.
- Lead role in education of staff and patients, application of current nursing issues and healthcare governance.
- Ability to work in changing environments and supportive of colleagues.
- Basic IT skills, including e‑mail and word processing.
- High level of personal and professional credibility.
- First‑level degree.
- Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent.
- Evidence of management experience.
- Evidence of change management.
- Application of evidence‑based practice.
- Evidence of developing high standards of patient care.
- Lead role in education of staff and patients.
- Application of current nursing issues and healthcare governance.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in changing environments.
- Basic IT skills, including e‑mail and word processing.
- Supportive of colleagues.
- High level of personal and professional credibility.
