Alcohol Specialist Nurse

An opportunity for a highly motivated Nurse / Non Medical Prescriber to work within our acute trust Alcohol Team. The role focuses on supporting clinical interventions and treatments for patients with alcohol‑related problems, liaising with primary care teams for smooth transition of care and supporting research, education, and clinical support to the wider healthcare team.
Main duties of the job- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of evidence‑based nursing care.
- Provide expert advice and clinical practice.
- Provide specialist education and training to others.
- Work collaboratively and co‑operatively with clinical colleagues to develop services and quality of care delivered.
- Lead the development of clinical services within the specialist field.
- Assess, plan and evaluate care planning for a group of patients affected by alcohol misuse.
- Facilitate outpatient clinics providing excellent standards of care, including implementing prescribing plans.
- Interpret blood / fibro scan results and refer as appropriate.
- Provide specialist education and training to colleagues and allied professionals.
- Provide expert advice and clinical practice.
- Work collaboratively and co‑operatively with clinical colleagues to develop service delivery.
- Perform comprehensive assessment of patient nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing health‑care needs.
- Perform advanced clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
- Collect, collate, evaluate and report information, maintaining accurate patient records.
- Involve patients and carers/relatives in planning and delivery of care and development of services.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met, especially regarding ongoing care and discharge arrangements.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, carers/relatives and professionals across health and social services.

- Recognised Teaching Qualification
- First Degree
