This is a very exciting opportunity for a secondment as deputy ward manager on the Major Trauma Ward.

We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join our multidisciplinary team, providing high quality nursing care within the acute setting on the Major Trauma Ward.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, teamwork skills and be dedicated to improving the patient’s experience.

Applicants must be 1st level nurse with evidence of demonstrable experience of working as a Band 5 or prior experience as a Band 6.

You will be required to demonstrate significant Band 5 experience. We are looking for individuals with leadership potential and effective communication skills, and a proactive, collaborative and innovative approach to the clinical environment, passionate about excellence in patient care.

Informal visits are encouraged.

You will support the ward manager to lead, provide and supervise a high standard of compassionate care to our patients. You will support the safety and quality agenda of patient care and staff management, ensuring that the values and objectives of the Trust are met, whilst improving patient outcomes.

You will support the journey of the patient from admission to discharge, identify risk and formulate actions to reduce this risk and ensure patient throughput is effective.

You will display excellent leadership and effective communication skills and be proactive, collaborative and innovative in the clinical environment, passionate about excellence in patient care.

• Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
• Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent

• Evidence of management experience
• Evidence of change management
• Application of evidence based practice
• Evidence of developing high standards of patient care
• Lead role in education of staff and patients

• Application of current nursing issues and healthcare governance

• Ability to work in changing environments
• Basic IT skills, including e-mail and word processing

• Supportive of colleagues
• High level of personal and professional credibility
• Well motivated
