Job overview

An experienced and motivated theatre anaesthetic practitioner is sought to join our team as a senior practitioner in obstetric and gynaecological theatres. The role involves leading within theatres, acting as a role model and facilitating policy and service development. Previous obstetric experience is desirable but not mandatory. Applicants must have significant theatre experience and be required to attend an on‑call rota, with the responsibility to reach the hospital within 30 minutes of being called or arrange alternative accommodation within close proximity.

duties
  • Lead the operating theatre or designated area, serving as a role model for the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in the anaesthetic rota, act as the lead practitioner when on duty, and coordinate in obstetric theatres as required.
  • Act as a resource person, providing advice and support to the MDT, staff, patients and relatives.
  • Assist in theatre management to ensure excellence in patient care; hold responsibility for staff and service development.
  • Develop clinical protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Contribute to workforce development, performance reviews and encourage new ideas for service improvement.
  • Demonstrate people‑management skills, including delegation, negotiation and assertiveness.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Qualification in O.D.P. or RGN; teaching and assessing qualification.
  • Significant relevant theatre experience.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Documented evidence of a wide range of theatre skills.
  • Ability to embrace change as an opportunity and organise and prioritise workload.
