Role Summary

The Band 6 Clinical Educator will lead, coordinate, and deliver high‑quality clinical education and workforce development across the Acute Medical Unit (AMU). The post holder will work in close partnership with Ward Managers, senior nursing staff, Practice Development Nurses, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure staff are competent, confident, and supported to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care. The role will focus on clinical skills development, preceptorship, induction, competency assessment, patient safety education, and quality improvement, ensuring education is aligned with Trust priorities, national standards, and learning identified through governance, incidents, and patient feedback.

Band 6 Clinical Educator – Acute Medical Unit (AMU)

• Clinical Education & Training
• Deliver high‑quality clinical education, bedside teaching, and competency‑based training for staff working on AMU across Bands 3–6.
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate AMU induction programmes, ensuring staff are equipped to work safely within acute, high‑turnover environments.
• Support delivery of role‑specific education for Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC), High Care areas, and general AMU clinical practice.
• Act as a visible and accessible educational resource on the unit, supporting learning in real‑time clinical practice.
