An Exciting Opportunity to Join Our Dynamic Research Team!

The Human Challenge Facility is seeking a passionate and dedicated Research Nurse to join our dynamic and agile delivery team. You will work in the Human Challenge Facility, an 18-bedded outpatient research space and the new 12-bedded inpatient isolation facility within LSTM. This cutting-edge facility will serve as a focal point for experimental medicine research, focusing on human challenge models to test vaccine and drug safety and efficacy.

The HCF will play a pivotal role in the development of new treatments and vaccines, enabling LSTM to continue its global impact on infection treatment and control.

The Role:
As a Research Nurse, you will provide essential clinical cover in the HCF, delivering care to participants according to the study protocol while maintaining the highest standards of clinical care and complying with Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Your responsibilities will include:

  • Act as senior nurse on shift, providing supervision to junior members of the team
  • Providing clinical care to study participants during their time in the HCF
  • Collecting samples and completing data entry using electronic Case Report Forms (eCRFs)
  • Ensuring clinical studies run smoothly, efficiently, and in line with GCP guidelines
  • Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and scientists to develop better vaccines and treatments for future generations

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Immediate Life Support (ILS) trained
  • Experience working in clinical research or clinical trials (essential)
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • A passion for improving global health through innovative research
  • Available to work out of hours including night shifts, weekends and Bank Holidays

You will work in the Human Challenge Facility at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, part of the Knowledge Quarter.

Working Pattern: This role requires flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, night shifts, Bank Holidays, and other out‑of‑hours shifts. Additional payment covers unsocial hours. While the post is offered on a full‑time, permanent subject to funding basis, we will consider applications from candidates seeking part‑time hours on a fixed‑term contract basis, subject to the needs of the service.
