We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Staff Nurse to join our 26 bedded Surgical Ward. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse with strong clinical leadership skills who is passionate about delivering high-quality care to patients. The successful candidate will support the coordination of patient care, supervise junior staff, and contribute to service development within a fast‑paced surgical environment.

Applicants must have a minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience within an acute surgical setting.

Liaise with the Senior Surgical Team to ensure timely review of any acutely unwell patients in accordance with departmental standards.

Work closely with junior nursing staff to support them, facilitate discharges.

Liaise with the Bed Management team via Bleep system or to ascertain the bed availability on the wards.

Have clear overview of all patients and monitor compliance with departmental standards.

Maintain communication with all members of the team throughout the shift. Provide leadership and support as required

Complete or delegate various quality checks within the department on a daily basis:
Including Resus trolley and CD Cupboard.

Attend bed meetings, advising senior team of bed capacity, potential and active discharges, transfers by speciality/gender and any staffing issues
