Quality Controller
Location: Slough
Contract: Full‑time, Ongoing
Hours: 08:00 - 17:00 (1 hour unpaid lunch)
Pay Rate: £15 per hour
About the role
The Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring that all products meet established quality, safety and regulatory standards. This includes overseeing quality systems, conducting audits, managing inspections, and driving continuous improvement across production processes.
Key Responsibilities Quality Assurance & Auditing- Implement and maintain quality standards, procedures, and inspection systems.
- Plan and conduct testing and inspections of materials and finished products.
- Carry out daily, weekly and monthly production audits.
- Conduct hygiene audits, GMP checks, silo sieve inspections, magnet checks and other compliance checks.
- Document internal audits and maintain document control systems.
- Coordinate and support external audits.
- Analyse quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Develop and monitor corrective and preventative actions.
- Investigate customer complaints and non‑conformance issues.
- Improve production standards and develop testing protocols.
- Identify and resolve workflow and production issues.
- Follow and promote health and safety policies and procedures.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Support audits, risk management activities and remedial actions.
- Monitor and report on health and safety practices.
- Provide first aid support where required.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and quality policies.
- Report food safety and quality concerns to management.
- Maintain hygienic working conditions in line with company standards.
- Support and monitor the Food Safety Management System.
- Liaise with customers, external organisations and authorities when required.
- Manage incident reporting and emergency procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Quality‑related certifications (e.g. Quality Auditor) desirable.
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, testing best practices and defect management.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory and food safety requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and QA systems/databases.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
