We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as an HSE Specialist to work in a truly global environment, supporting health, safety and environmental (HSE) excellence across our Liquid Products terminals in Europe. Working closely with site managers and operational teams, you will play a key role in implementing HSE programmes, driving compliance with regulatory and internal standards, alongside conducting audits and training to foster a proactive safety culture.

ED&F Man Liquid Products is the leading global supplier in molasses, molasses blends and related liquid products as well as dry products for primarily the animal feed and fermentation industries. We are a pioneer as well as a trader in liquid agricultural by- and co-products. We offer expertise in animal nutrition and feed dispense technology to farmers. We work closely with manufacturers, such as rum and yeast producers, to provide quality products from sustainable sources.

Our capability includes sourcing, shipping, storage and distribution of molasses, molasses blends and other sugar co-products, as well as vegetable and fish oils.

LP a leading global merchant commodities firm facilitating the flow of energy, metals, agriculture, and environmental products across the full commodity supply chain, connecting producers and consumers. Hartree was founded in 1997, is jointly owned by senior management and funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, LP, and employs around 5,000 individuals worldwide.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE policies, procedure sand programmes, whilst ensuringcompliancewith company standard sand applicable regulatory requirements across the terminals.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, auditsand workplace assessments to identify hazards, verify compliance andensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.
  • Support the planning, coordination and delivery of internal and external HSE audits, including ISO 14001environmental management system audits, identifyingnon-conformances and assisting with the development and monitoring ofcorrective action plans.
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, conductingroot cause analysis and supporting theimplementation of effectivecorrective and preventivemeasures.
  • Deliver HSE inductions, training and awareness programmes foremployees and contractors, promoting a proactivesafety culture and ensuring understanding of company standard sand regulatory obligations.
  • Supporting initiativesthat improve environmentalsustainability and compliance, related to energy consumption, waste management andemissions,
  • Support environmental compliancethrough the implementation of spill prevention, pollution control and emergency response measures, ensuringenvironmental risks are effectively managed.
  • Maintain accurate HSErecords, documentation and reporting, includingincident records, auditfindings, compliance activities and regulatory submissions.
  • Monitor,analyse and reportHSE performance metrics, identifying trends, opportunities for improvement and supporting the achievement of business objectives.
  • Collaborate closely withoperationalteams, site management and other stakeholders to promote continuous improvement in safety performance and embedHSE best practiceacrossall terminal activities.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness planning,response exercises anddrills, ensuring emergencyproceduresremain effective and personnel are appropriatelytrained.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of UK, Europeanand local HSElegislation, ensuring changesin regulatory requirements are effectively communicatedand implemented.
  • Support cross-functional projects, capital investmentinitiatives and management of change processes by providingspecialist HSE guidance to ensure risksare effectively identified and controlled.
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulatory authoritiesand other relevantstakeholders, supportinginspections, compliance activities and theresolutionof regulatory matters.
  • Act as a trusted source of technical HSE expertise, providing guidance on hazard controls, personal protective equipment, risk management and regulatory compliance while promoting a visible commitment to safety, personal accountability and continuous improvement.

Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Health, Safety and Environmentrole within thebulk liquid storage, chemical, manufacturingor other high-hazard industrial sectorsis desirable, however candidates from outside of these industries are invited to apply.
