The Deputy Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at The Range store in Liverpool. The person in this role supports the Store Manager with day-to-day operations, including supervising team members, coordinating work schedules, and ensuring excellent customer service on the sales floor. Responsibilities include overseeing merchandising and stock presentation, monitoring inventory levels, and helping to implement in-store promotions and seasonal layouts.
The Deputy Manager assists with team training, performance guidance, and compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and cash handling procedures. This role also contributes to sales targets, analyzes store performance, and helps resolve customer queries and operational issues in a timely, professional manner.
- Experience in retail or customer-facing environments, ideally in a supervisory or team leader position.
- Strong people management and coaching abilities, with skill in motivating diverse teams and supporting performance improvement.
- Solid customer service skills, including effective communication, conflict resolution, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage shifts, and maintain store standards under pressure.
- Comfort with basic retail operations such as cash handling, use of point-of-sale systems, stock control, and merchandising.
- Awareness of health, safety, and compliance requirements in a retail environment, with attention to detail and risk mitigation.
- Flexible approach to working patterns, including weekends, bank holidays, and peak trading periods as required.
- Previous experience in a large-format or multi-department store and a track record of supporting sales and productivity targets is desirable.
