Freight Business Development Manager
Location: North West / Hybrid Field-Based
Salary: Competitive DOE + Uncapped Bonus + Benefits
Reed is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a growing and ambitious logistics business for an experienced Freight Business Development Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven sales professional with experience in freight, transport, courier, pallet network, or logistics services to join a business that is investing in growth and expanding its customer base across the UK and Europe.
The successful candidate will play a key role in securing new business, developing long-term customer relationships, and driving revenue growth across a broad portfolio of freight and logistics solutions.
The Opportunity
Working as part of a dynamic commercial team, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new customers requiring:
- UK Road Freight
- European Road Freight
- Same-Day Courier Services
- Next-Day Parcel Delivery
- Pallet Distribution
- Dedicated Transport Solutions
- Groupage and Consolidation Services
- Time-Critical Logistics
This role will suit a proactive "hunter" who enjoys winning new business and has the ability to build strong relationships with customers across a variety of sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and develop new freight and logistics opportunities
- Generate leads through networking, cold calling, referrals, social selling, and market research
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through to onboarding
- Conduct customer meetings, presentations, and site visits
- Prepare quotations and tailored logistics solutions
- Negotiate commercial agreements and pricing structures
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure seamless implementation of new business
- Maintain accurate sales activity and forecasting through CRM systems
- Achieve and exceed agreed sales and gross profit targets
About You
We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have:
- Previous experience in a Freight Business Development, Logistics Sales, or Transport Sales role
- Strong knowledge of UK freight markets
- Experience selling European freight solutions or international logistics services
- A proven track record of winning and developing new business
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Commercial awareness and the ability to identify profitable opportunities
- A self-motivated and target-driven approach
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Experience
- European road freight and groupage
- Pallet network sales
- Courier and same-day logistics
- Customs and post-Brexit freight movements
- Freight forwarding or international transport solutions
