Transport Operator

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Transport Operator to join their busy transport team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong understanding of UK transport operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient coordination of drivers, customer deliveries, and port operations while maintaining exceptional service levels.

Sunday to Thursday | Nights - 19:00 - 05:00

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and manage multiple drivers on a daily basis.
Communicate effectively with ports to ensure smooth transport operations.
Book delivery and collection slots for port entries and arrivals.
Use the TOPS transport management system to record driver start and finish times accurately.
Monitor driver progress, obtaining ETAs and ensuring deliveries are completed on schedule.
Re-route jobs and adjust schedules as operational requirements dictate.
Ensure all Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation is accurately matched to the relevant jobs within the system.
Liaise with customers regarding potential delays and provide accurate delivery updates and revised ETAs.
Support the wider transport team in maintaining efficient and compliant transport operations.
Respond quickly and effectively to operational issues as they arise.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess:

Previous experience working as a Transport Operator (essential).
Experience in containers (essential)
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent knowledge of UK geography and transport routes.
The ability to work independently and use initiative.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
A flexible approach to working hours and business requirements.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with transport documentation and systems.
Good IT skills and experience using transport management systems.
