Assistant Depot Manager / Transport Planner – Based at Cargill PLC, Brocklebank site, Bootle, Merseyside.
We’re excited to offer an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to join our prestigious Cargill contract as an Assistant Depot Manager / Transport Planner. We are looking for an enthusiastic, and highly organised individual to join our team. The role will involve:
• Supporting the Depot Manager with managing the driver workforce (wages, holidays, compliance etc), maintenance of vehicles, and general administration.
• Supporting the Transport Supervisor with the planning and scheduling of bulk vegetable oil deliveries on tankers to customer sites.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with transport legislation
• Maintain accurate records using in-house systems (training will be provided)
• Plan and coordinate the delivery and collection of goods to various customer delivery points
• Ensure optimal use of fleet and driver resources
• Adapt to changes in schedule and resolve transport-related issues promptly
Working Hours:
Monday-Friday, 08:00-17:00 with 1 hour break.
This position is office-based, with occasional travel to Cargill’s Witham St Hughs, Lincs site. There will be a 3-week training period at Witham St Hughs once employment has commenced.
On call at nights and weekends 1 in every 3 weeks.
Salary:
Competitive, depending on experience
The ideal candidate will have:
• Previous experience in a transport background is beneficial but not essential as full training will be given.
• Strong understanding of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
• Good geographical knowledge (preferred).
• IT literate with strong organisational and communication skills.
• A flexible and proactive approach to work.
• Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
